‘Red Peppers, Cocaine & Milk’: David Bowie's Bizarre Eating Disorder Before Death
June 14 2018, Published 5:29 p.m. ET
David Bowie got caught in a pattern of drugs, hard partying and self-destruction years before his terminal cancer diagnosis.
Now—two years after his tragic death—REELZ’s new docuseries, Autopsy: David Bowie is exploring the life of the musical icon and the fatal conditions that led him to his early grave.
“At one point David’s diet consisted solely of red peppers, cocaine, and milk,” says Music Journalist Lesley-Ann Jones in the docuseries teaser.
“Is this eccentric behavior? Yes,” adds Psychologist Dr. Linda Papadopoulos. “But actually, it has all the hallmarks of an eating disorder, and at the base of most eating disorders, is this need for control. I feel insecure, I feel unhappy. I have to control things so I feel safe.”
Two years into his cocaine habit, David Bowie seemed like he would never recover.
As RadarOnline.com readers know, the star passed away on January 10, 2016—three days after his 69th birthday— after losing his battle to cancer.
Autopsy: David Bowie airs Sunday, June 17 at 9:00 ET/ PT on REELZ.
