Bachelor star Chris Soules just took a sweetheart plea deal, and he's now facing up to just two years behind bars, RadarOnline.com can report.

More than a year after he was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, a felony, the former reality hunk's charge was reduced to "leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury," a misdemeanor, new Iowa court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com indicate.

The maximum penalty is now just two years of imprisonment, and/or a fine of no more than $6,250. With his previous charge, he faced up to five years in confinement.

Sentencing is now scheduled for January 8, 2019.

RadarOnline.com first reported Soules was expected to plead guilty this week in exchange for a more lenient sentence.

As RadarOnline.com readers know, Soules rear-ended tractor driver Kenneth Mosher on April 24, 2017. Paramedics arrived on the scene in attempts to revive Mosher, but were unsuccessful. The driver was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
