YouTube Star Austin Jones Unable To Afford Attorney After Child Porn Arrest
Austin Jones will remain in custody on child pornography charges after a bombshell courtroom hearing Wednesday morning, RadarOnline.com has learned.
Jones, 24, appeared at the Dirksen Federal Courthouse in Chicago, Illinois, on June 14, just one day after he was arrested for allegedly pressuring underage female fans to send him explicit videos.
A court clerk confirmed to RadarOnline.com that Jones was formally charged in court, and informed of what his "possible sentence" could be. He was also informed of his rights.
It was then determined that he could not afford his own lawyer, and was given court appointed counsel.
His case will go to trial, and his detention hearing is set for later today.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Jones was allegedly talking to a 14 and 15-year-old within the last year — and told them to send illegal videos. One girl said she made 15 videos for him. The other alleged victim said Jones told her she would get to perform a sex act on him if she was "lucky."
