Attorney Lisa Bloom Applauds Guess Co-Founder Paul Marciano’s Decision To Step Down

Guess co-founder Paul Marciano is stepping down as executive chairman, after the company paid settlements to women who accused him of sexual harassment. And RadarOnline.com has learned attorney Lisa Bloom, who represented four women who accused the 66-year-old of sexual assault, is happy with his decision.

“We are pleased at today’s news that Paul Marciano has resigned as Executive Chairman of the Board of Guess?, Inc. And yet, much more remains to be done if Guess truly wants to be a brand that stands for respect for women,” Bloom wrote in a statement given to RadarOnline.com.

“I represent four women who stood up against Mr. Marciano and Guess over the last several months. Each alleges that she was sexually assaulted by Mr. Marciano, by his groping her breasts, forcing her to perform a sex act, or both. These are serious, deeply disturbing, credible claims."

Each woman, who chose to remain anonymous, spoke to lawyers for Guess and outlined their story, including what Bloom labeled as contemporaneous texts and complaints of improper behavior. They all settled for $400,000, rather than head to trial.

But while celebrating the victory, Bloom added there was some regret.

“We are disappointed that Mr. Marciano will remain on the board through 2019,” her statement concluded. “We do not believe a man with so many credible accusations of sexual assault is fit to lead any company, much less one that sells primarily to women.”

As RadarOnline.com readers know, Marciano was the subject of an internal investigation, after multiple employees and models, including Kate Upton, made accusations of sexual misconduct against the businessman.

Upton, 26, detailed Marciano’s alleged mistreatment in a shocking interview with TIME.

“After the first day of shooting the Guess Lingerie campaign in July 2010, Paul Marciano said he wanted to meet with me. As soon as I walked in with photographer Yu Tsai, Paul came straight up to me, forcibly grabbed my breasts and started feeling them — playing with them actually,” Upton said of Marciano, who denied the incident. “After I pushed him away, he said, ‘I’m making sure they’re real.'”
