See You In Court! Ashley Judd Sues Harvey Weinstein For Derailing Her Career
Ashley Judd is suing disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, accusing him of derailing her career and blocking her from getting major movie roles, including a part on the blockbuster Lord of the Rings trilogy, after she turned down his sexual advances.
In court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Rings director Peter Jackson and his production partner Fran Walshmet with Judd in 1998 to discuss playing a “major role” in the film adaptations. But when Jackson told Weinstein he wanted to cast Judd, Weinstein refused.

“Weinstein torpedoed Ms. Judd’s incredible professional opportunity when he told Mr. Jackson and Ms. Walsh that the studio had had a ‘bad experience’ with Ms. Judd, and that Ms. Judd was a “nightmare” to work with and should be avoided ‘at all costs,’” writes attorney Theodore Boutrous Jr.
The complaint further alleges that Judd was blacklisted, destroying her ability to work on what became a multi-billion-dollar franchise.

“The pathetic reality, however, was that Weinstein was retaliating against Ms. Judd for rejecting his sexual demands approximately one year earlier, when he cornered her in a hotel room under the guise of discussing business," Boutrous Jr. writes. "A self-described 'benevolent dictator' who has bragged that 'I can be scary,' Weinstein used his power in the entertainment industry to damage Ms. Judd’s reputation and limit her ability to find work."
Judd is asking for financial damages, and wants an order enjoining Weinstein from engaging in further retaliatory conduct toward her.
