Reality star Ashlee Simpson is hoping there ain’t no mountain high enough to keep mother-in-law Diana Ross from joining her new show.

RadarOnline.com has learned Simpson, who is returning to TV with her husband Evan Ross, is desperate for his famous mother to join them.

“Ashlee and Evan would love to get Diana Ross on the new show,” a source told NaughtyGossip.com’s STRAIGHT SHUTER. “Diana is not only a superstar, she is Evan’s mother and the grandmother to Ashlee’s kid.”

Ashlee and Evan will star in an upcoming docuseries on E!, which will follow the married couple as they record an album together and raises daughter Jagger Snow, 2, and Bronx Mowgli, the singer’s 9-year-old son with ex-husband Pete Wentz.

“They are both nervous about the show’s success and hoping that the addition of Miss Ross will bring in more viewers,” the source added. “So far, Miss Ross has not committed.”

Diana is said to want to help out her son, but at the same time she is famously very private.

“When you are as talented as Diana Ross is, you don’t need to be on reality TV,” a friend of the couple warns.
