How Cold! Ailing Aretha Franklin’s Grave Already Dug As Sick Singer Fights Cancer
Aretha Franklin is bravely fighting cancer at a Michigan hospital — but her grave has already been dug!
The Queen of Soul, 76, is still clinging on to life and friends have described her as “alert, talking and laughing,” but a plot in Detroit, Michigan is already being readied for her funeral, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.
“A family member of mine works at the cemetery where Aretha has her plot and they have begun preparing already,” a snitch told RadarOnline.com.
“I am guessing her family has spoken to the cemetery and told them her death will be very soon.”
The insider revealed more sad details about Franklin’s funeral plans. “They have businesses putting in bids on how much they will charge for services,” the source told RadarOnline.com about her family.
“They are doing carpeting for a walk way for her service.”
Franklin’s family plot is at Woodlawn cemetery in Detroit, where she grew up. Sisters Carolyn, who passed in 1988 and Erma, who died in 2002 are buried at the cemetery, as is their father reverend C.L. Franklin.

Sadly, Franklin’s mother, Barbara, passed away at the age of 34 in 1952 and she is buried in Buffalo, New York, where the family lived before relocating to Detroit.
Celebrities including Stevie Wonder and Reverend Jesse Jackson have visited Franklin to pay their respects.
Franklin previously made a “miraculous” recovery after suffering a health scare in 2013. Although she was forced to cancel several concerts, she was well enough to sing at the Women of Soul: In Performance at the White House event in April 2014.
