Andrew Garfield Says He’s Open To Any Sexual ‘Impulses That May Arise’

Is Andrew Garfield looking for more controversy after his bizarre gay comment last year? In a recent interview with Out, the actor spoke out about his upcoming Angels in America role, and made it a point to talk about his allegedly fluid sexuality, once again!

Garfield, 34, who is playing Prior Walter – a complex AIDS-afflicted Jewish gay man – in the Broadway drama, claimed he was extremely excited for the role.

He told the outlet that he and his friends used to the study the original play because in terms of “actors studying, it was perfect.” He immediately accepted the role, but soon became afraid that he would be criticized for playing a gay man when he technically considers himself straight.

Speaking of his sexuality, Garfield told Out: “Up until this point, I’ve only been sexually attracted to women.”

“My stance toward life, though, is that I always try to surrender to the mystery of not being in charge. I think most people — we’re intrinsically trying to control our experience here, and manage it, and put walls around what we are and who we are,” he continued. “I want to know as much of the garden as possible before I pass — I have an openness to any impulses that may arise within me at any time. But, if I were to identify, I would identify as heterosexual.”

As RadarOnline.com readers know, Andrew Garfield first came under fire when he suggested that he was basically gay – because he watched RuPaul’s Drag Race – during a panel discussion for Angels in America.

"Every Sunday I would have eight friends over and we would just watch Ru," he explained at the time. "I mean every single series of RuPaul's Drag Race. I mean every series. This is my life outside of this play. I am a gay man right now just without the physical act — that's all."

After he faced backlash all over social media, Garfield clarified: "As far as I know, I am not a gay man. Maybe I'll have an awakening later in my life, which I'm sure will be wonderful and I'll get to explore that part of the garden, but right now I'm secluded to my area, which is wonderful, as well."
