Lazaro Arbos, the 21-year-old who speaks with a severe stutter but sings like an angel, burst into tears on American Idol's Beatles night Wednesday, after the judges ripped his performance of the Fab Four's 1965 ballad In My Life.
Randy Jackson told Lazaro that Wednesday's outing marked his "worst performance" of the season.
"It was out of tune from beginning to end," Randy said. "Something has definitely happened to you. Where did the vocals go? You are just not hitting it on all cylinders."
Nicki Minaj, acknowledged the substandard performance, putting the blame on Lazaro's guest mentor, producer Jimmy Iovine.
"I still feel you are not back to the Lazaro I remember -- I need them to stop putting you in the room with Jimmy, I can't take it any more," the Super Bass singer said. "Your confidence is different now. You used to come on the stage and were owning it honey child, and working it, but now I don't know.
"You know what you do, don't let anyone else tell you what to do. Where is your mind? Something is bothering you and I need you back."

Mariah Carey complimented the Naples, Florida native for his bravery in persevering, while Keith Urban said Lazaro's particular song selection was what did him in.
"I learned that song last night: I had chosen a different song but because of some things we had to change it," a teary Lazaro explained.
Ryan Seacrest gave Lazaro a reassuring pat, telling him, "Hang in there buddy, wipe those tears off, alright.
"Enjoy it, come back next week and fight."
