It's a miracle!
As RadarOnline.com exclusively reported, 90 Day Fiance star David Toborowsky's teen son was shot in the face with a handgun in a horrific accident on January 28 — but Jacob WILL live to tell the shocking tale, a family member assured in a new interview.
"The doctor said he's the second luckiest patient he has ever seen in his life," the family member told RadarOnline.com. "There is a 5% survivability rate with this type of injury. His doctor said, 'I can't believe I'm standing here talking to you!'"
The 18-year-old, who was released from a local Louisville, Kentucky hospital just days later, is now "in a lot of pain" dealing with a bullet lodged in his cheek.
"He went to the doctor, but the swelling is too bad to take a good look at it," the insider said. "The doctor said he may need to stay with the bullet in there for the rest of his life. It's more of a risk taking it out in some cases."
After more healing, Jacob will meet with a plastic surgeon to discuss repairing his face, the family member said: "We will see if something, anything can be done."
However, the teen will need to do more inner work to move on from the trauma.
"At the end of the day his life will never be the same. He has to do deep soul-searching," the source revealed. "He will need to help others, and help in getting guns off the street."
As RadarOnline.com reported, Jacob was rushed to the hospital after a friend accidently shot him. A source claimed the friend, a minor, didn't believe the gun was loaded.
The insider claimed the gun did not belong to David or the family, and they have no idea where it came from.
David, 48, appeared on the most recent season of TLC series 90 Day Fiance with his wife, Annie. Jacob appeared in at least two episodes of the show.
