Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise: The movie megastar is Hollywood’s most famousScientologist. He joined the religion in 1990 through his first wife, Mimi Rogers, and has said it helped him overcome dyslexia. Since then, Tom has campaigned for Scientology to be recognized as a religion in Europe, raised donations to offer NYC’s 9/11 firefighters therapy based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard, and openly criticized Brooke Shields for taking antidepressants for post-partum depression (as Scientology holds strict anti-drug beliefs). He later apologized to Shields but his original comments led to a famous argument between Tom and Matt Lauer on the Today show. In a 2004 Rolling Stone interview, Cruise said, “Some people, well, if they don't like Scientology, well, then, f*** you. Really. F*** you. Period."
Kirstie Alley
Kirstie Alley: The former Cheers actress has long been a prominent proponent of Scientology and claimed last year that the religion saved her from cocaine addiction. She has recently taken up the Scientology battle against drugs by attacking the anti-depressant drug Abilify via Twitter. The Dancing with the Stars competitor, involved with Scientology for more than 30 years, also fiercely criticizes media attacks on her religion. “Without Scientology, I’d be dead,” Kirstie said.
Anne Archer
Anne Archer: “Scientology is sanity,” the Fatal Attraction star has declared about the religion she’s followed since the 1970s. Anne was introduced to Scientology at an acting school and her husband William Davis is also a believer. Their son, Tommy Davis, was the head of Scientology’s Celebrity Centre in Los Angeles until his recent unexplained disappearance from the organization.
Catherine Bell
Catherine Bell: The Army Wives and longtime J.A.G. star once told Howard Stern during his radio show that she became a more confident person and better actress because of Scientology. When the shock jock mocked her religion, Catherine told Stern he should read up on it. She also appeared in a 2006 Scientology music video called “United,” which promoted human rights through a rap song.
Karen Black
Karen Black: The now 73-year-old actress, known for Five Easy Pieces and Easy Rider, joined the church in the 1970s. Her husband Stephen Eckelberry is also Scientologist. The couple recently raised more than $40,000 on the internet from fans to pay for Karen’sexperimental cancer treatment.
Sonny Bono
Sonny Bono: The late musician and congressman, raised Catholic, was introduced to Scientology by Tom Cruise’s ex Mimi Rogers. Although it’s unclear if Sonny followed it until the time of his death in 1998, he was quoted as saying, “There was no cult thing there.”
Erika Christensen
Erika Christensen: The Parenthood star was home-schooled by herparents based on Scientology teachings and considers Tom Cruise a mentor. “Scientology helps me in acting to focus on communication,” the Traffic beauty said.
Jeff Conaway
Jeff Conaway: In 2008, the troubled actor said his Grease co-star John Travolta had introduced him to Scientology, which helped him quit drugs. “John and I stayed friends but he couldn’t watch me going down the tubes…He gave me a whole library of Scientology books and he’s given me an auditor who comes almost every day,” Jeff told Inside Edition in 2008. But sadly, Jeff died in 2011, partly from a brain disorder caused by drug usage.
Jenna Elfman
Jenna Elfman: The Dharma and Greg star’s husband, Bodhi Elfman, got her into Scientology and she has said it’s affected her life in a “tremendously positive way.” According to Jenna, the religion’s critics are full of misconceptions and no one is encouraged to push the religion onothers. She enjoys her visits to L.A.’s Scientology Celebrity Centre.
Doug E. Fresh
Doug E. Fresh: In 2009, Doug declared himself hip-hop’s first Scientologist and revealed he’d been following it for eight years. Shaft singer Isaac Hayes, who was a well-known Scientologist, brought the beat boxer to the church. “It is not just for white people,” Doug told Essence magazine. “The black community has to check it out and see what’s there.”
Beck Hansen
Beck Hansen: The “Loser” singer was raised a Scientologist in Los Angeles, and married fellow church member Marissa Ribisi, the twin sister of actor Giovanni Ribisi. Beck has said Scientology has been “Useful. My dad’s being doing it since before I was born.”
Isaac Hayes
Isaac Hayes: The Shaft singer enthusiastically promoted his Scientology beliefs until his death in 2008. “It will put you on the right path!” he said. In 2001, he and Doug E. Fresh recorded a Scientology-inspired album called The Joy Of Creating—The Golden Era Musicians And Friends Play L. Ron Hubbard. He famously resigned from voicing Chef on South Park over a Scientology-bashing episode.
Jason Lee
Jason Lee: The My Name Is Earl star has been a practicing Scientologist since the 1980s. The star told the New Zealand Herald in 2006that Scientology “gets a bad rap, but it has got me though some rough times with my friends, family and even my ex-wife.” But his ex-wife Carmen Llywelyn claimed on Inside Edition that their marriage ended because Jason became obsessed with Scientology.
Juliette Lewis
Juliette Lewis: The actress joined the Church of Scientology in the early 1990s and credits the group’s Narconon program with helping her kick drugs. Lewis has said on Scientology’s web site that she’s achieved the “state of Clear,” which is important to church members.
Danny Masterson
Danny Masterson: The actor was raised in Scientology and is outspoken about his distrust of psychiatry and prescription pills. In 2005, Danny helped promote Scientology’s “Psychiatry: An Industry of Death” exhibit in Los Angeles.

Sofia Milos: The CSI: Miami actress is apparently part of the Scientology fold. In 2008, she appeared at the church’s “Christmas Stories” benefit at L.A.’s Celebrity Centre. And Tom Cruise biographer Andrew Morton alleged that the actress was one of the Scientology beauties considered as a possible girlfriend for the actor after his split from Nicole Kidman, although he also wrote that the setup never actually happened.
Elisabeth Moss
Elisabeth Moss: The Mad Men star was raised as a Scientologist and told The Telegraph the religion has helped her through such tough times as her 2011 divorce from Fred Armisen. “I think for me it’s one thing that has helped me at times, and it’s kind of as simple as that,” she said. Armisen, however, hinted that their marriage crumbled because of her devotion to the religion.
Marisol Nichols
Marisol Nichols: The actress who played agent Nadia Yassir on TV’s 24 and appeared on ABC’s GCB last year said in an interview she was exposed to Scientology by her chiropractor and “my life has been soaring upwards” ever since. Marisol added that the religion “makes me a better person.”
Bijou Phillips
Bijou Phillips: The Raising Hope and Hostel 2 actress married fellow Scientologist Danny Masterson two years ago, and has been vocal about her disdain for drugs and psychiatry. She’s lashed out against those who think they need antidepressants, saying people should “just buck up and get over it.”
Laura Prepon
Laura Prepon: The That ‘70s Show star doesn’t talk about Scientology much, but was reportedly introduced to the religion by her former boyfriend and show co-star Christopher Masterson. Laura has been quoted as telling Women’s Health magazine in 2007 about her love for the church, “I know what’s true for me and what works for me.”
Priscilla Presley
Priscilla Presley: The actress and Elvis Presley’s former wife has been active in the church for years and like other famous Scientologists, Priscilla beats the drum against psychiatry. Although her and Elvis’ daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, was also an adherent, rumors swirled recently that she became disillusioned and has started to stray from the church. The lyrics to Lisa Marie’s song “So Long” talked about “Religion so corrupt and running lives…Churches, they don’t have a soul.”
Kelly Preston
Kelly Preston: After meeting future husband John Travolta on the set of a film in the 1980s, Kelly began practicing his religion. The couple’s 1991 marriage was performed by a French Scientologist minister in Paris. She has claimed her beliefs helped her deal with the death of their son Jett,16, in 2008.
Lee Purcell
Lee Purcell: The Big Wednesday and Valley Girl actress has beeninvolved in Scientology. In a 1997 press release celebrating the re-release of L. Ron Hubbard’s Scientology: The Fundamentals of Thought, Purcell is quoted as commenting, “Like many people, I was curious about the mysteries of life. I found the truth contained in this book.”
Leah Remini
Leah Remini: The King of Queens beauty told Howard Stern in 2001 she’s belonged to the church for half her life and has also gushed, “There is nothing about my life that I feel apathetic or unhappy about. Scientology gives you hope and the certainty that you can improve any condition.”
Giovanni Ribisi
Giovanni Ribisi: The Avatar and Saving Private Ryan actor was raised a Scientologist. Last summer, as RadarOnline.com has previously reported, he married model Agyness Deyn—who has sidestepped questions about her husband’s religion!
Ethan Suplee
Ethan Suplee: The My Name Is Earl actor co-starred with fellow Scientologist Jason Lee in the NBC comedy and is married to Brandy Lewis, the sister of actress/Scientologist Juliette Lewis. Suplee has been spotted attending charity events at Hollywood’s Scientology Celebrity Centre.
Michelle Stafford
Michelle Stafford: The Young & the Restless redhead has been quoted praising the church on their web site. She said, “If something starts to get me down, I have the tools in Scientology to handle it.”
John Travolta
John Travolta: Next to Tom Cruise, Travolta is the biggest celebrity adherent of Scientology. He has belonged to the church since 1975, before he landed the role that made him famous on TV’s Welcome Back, Kotter. John credited Scientology for helping his career take off. In 2000, Travolta’s religion became well known when he starred in the movie bomb Battlefield Earth, an adaptation of an L. Ron Hubbard novel. "As a Scientologist I have the technology to handle life's problems and I have used this to help others in life as well," John has said.
Greta Van Susteren
Greta Van Susteren: The Fox newswoman has mostly kept her Scientology beliefs on the down low, but People magazine quoted her as saying, “I am a strong advocate of their ethics.” Her husband, lawyer John P. Coale, is a fellow member.
Edgar Winter
Edgar Winter: The “Free Ride” rocker appeared in at least seven issues of the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre magazine between 1995 and 2005. He also lent his musical talent to his church, producing the album Mission Earth, written by L. Ron Hubbard.
