As a child, then-female Kaci struggled with gender identity.
“I daydreamed almost constantly about what it would be like to be a boy. Puberty was traumatizing for me, and I cried the first time I had to put on a bra,” he recalled.
Despite that, Kaci — who lives in Wisconsin — married a man in 2010. While pregnant with Grayson, “I prayed to connect with womanhood, to identify with what was happening to my body, but I couldn’t,” he confessed. “I felt so hopeless and lost. I wanted to die.”
That all changed with Grayson’s birth.
“The moment they put him in my arms it was bliss,” Kaci said.
But even motherhood couldn’t strengthen Kaci’s connection to femininity. Three months after giving birth, he announced plans to transition.
The decision ended his marriage, and in 2013 he began taking hormones and had a double mastectomy — but not genital reassignment.
The next year, Kaci met his partner, Steven, 27, online, and decided to try for another child. “As my bump grew bigger and bigger, I got nervous going out in public because people would stare,” he recalled. “The most important thing was sending the message that pregnancy is not a gendered thing.”
Phoenix is now feeding with breast milk provided by donors.
Asked about Phoenix’s gender, Kaci said: “We don’t need to be sexualizing little children. Nobody but your child should be revealing their gender.” We pay for juicy info!
