Tom Hiddleston Refuses To Talk About Taylor Swift—Inside His Need For 'Space'

Going downhill already? Tom Hiddleston made sure to awkwardly sidestep any mention of his new girlfriend, Taylor Swift, in a recent interview, as rumors swirl that the actor asked for more "space."
As Hiddleswift fans know, Tom Hiddleston's pal Robert Downey Jr. poked fun at the actor's new relationship this week, welcoming him to Instagram with an "I <3 T.S" joke (an obvious dig at Taylor's 4th of July bash). "Join me in welcoming the biggest T. Stark fan of them all to Instagram! @twhiddleston," Downey Jr. teased.

During an interview with the Los Angeles Times later this week, Hiddleston became noticeably squeamish when the topic came up.

"I don't mean to ask a really personal question, but can you talk to me about the Robert Downey Jr. relationship?" the reporter asked, to which Hiddleston replied, laughing: "Robert and I are very close and I got to know him working on the Avengers in 2011. There's a lot of mutual affection."

When the reporter pressed further about the Swift dig, Hiddleston refused to make any mention of his singer girlfriend. "I feel like it's an expression of mutual admiration. It's great. He's very sweet," he said plainly of Downey Jr.

Meanwhile, from meeting the parents, to jet-setting on romantic Rome and Australia vacations, Tom and Tay-Tay seemed to be very much in love last month.
