What was she inking? Melanie Griffith may be regretting her giant "Antonio" tattoo after filing for divorce from husband Banderas on June 6. No word on whether she plans to remove it or have it covered up, but she can take a cue from these other celebs who had second thoughts about their body art.

Malin Ackerman: The most recent celebrity to change her tattoo, in February 2014, the Trophy Wife star hired Miami Ink expert Jose Cordova to alter the “Z” on her right wrist. While she’d planned the tattoo as a loving tribute to her musician husband Roberto Zincone, the couple is now divorcing. So Cordova cleverly changed the tat to the initials of their son, 10–month–old Sebastian Zincone!

Johnny Depp: The Hollywood bad boy got “Winona Forever” tattooed on his arm in 1990 to honor his then-lover, Edward Scissorhands co-star Winona Ryder. But in 1994, after they had split up, Depp famously had the tattoo altered to read, “Wino Forever.” The actor, who has more than two dozen tattoos, told Playboy in 2004 about the body art, “It’s the kind of thing you do on the spur of the moment. Then you break up, but it’s still there. . . . I changed it to ‘Wino Forever,’ which is actually a bit more accurate.”

Charlie Sheen: When Charlie Sheen fell for third wife Brooke Mueller, he decided to remove the “Denise” tattoo from his wrist, which had paid tribute to former wife Denise Richards. Meanwhile, Richards got the “Charlie” tattoo on her ankle re-worked!

Eva Longoria: The Desperate Housewives star blasted away all memories of her love rat ex-husband, basketball player Tony Parker, after their divorce in 2011. In October 2012, she was spotted with a red splotch on her neck that used to be a tattoo of Parker’s San Antonio Spurs jersey number, “Nine.” Longoria also reportedly had their wedding date tat lasered off her wrist and Parker’s initials removed from a private body location. A clean sweep!

Britney Spears: While studying Kabbalah, the pop star showed her interest in Jewish mysticism by sporting a Hebrew tattoo on the back of her neck. The tattoo displayed the Hebrew letters mem, hey and shin, which in Kabbalah meant that Spears was taking responsibility for everything in her life and accepting that she could heal herself. But apparently the tat didn’t work for Brit because in 2008, it mysteriously vanished.

Marc Anthony: Around 2007, in the middle of his marriage to Jennifer Lopez, Anthony got her first name tattooed on his wrist. But during their divorce in 2012, the singer covered up “Jennifer” with a Statue of Liberty tattoo which he intended as a tribute to his new lady, model Shannon de Lima, whom he called his own Lady Liberty. Will that tat also be history soon? Anthony and de Lima split up last year.

Angelina Jolie: While she was married to Billy Bob Thornton, Jolie had “Billy Bob” tattooed on her arm with a Chinese dragon underneath. But in 2005, the Hollywood wild child had his name removed and replaced with the coordinates of the birth places of her children. It took many laser treatments and Jolie sighed at the time, “I’ll never be stupid enough to have a man’s name tattooed on me again.” However, in 2011, Jolie admitted she had a new tat—of partner Brad Pitt’s birthplace coordinates! Meanwhile, Billy Bob had turned his Angelina tattoo into “Angel.”

Kathy Griffin: The comedian didn’t like wearing a wedding ring, so she got one tattooed on during her marriage to Matt Moline. But they divorced in 2006 and Griffin found it was easier to shed a husband than a tattoo! “I tried to get it lasered off five times and it won’t come off,” she said in 2012. “I think I’m just going to put a freaking cigarette on it one day and just bite a piece of cloth like I’m a Civil War victim.”

Kelly Osbourne: The Fashion Police cutie admitted in 2010 that many of 15 her tattoos “were a mistake” and she was going to get them taken off. “It will take several months, and while I’m not looking forward to the pain, I’ve heard it hurts less than getting the tattoo,” Osbourne noted. “I was miserable and I just went and got all these tattoos and I don’t know why. One of them is a keyboard and I don’t even know how to play a piano!”

Pharrell Williams: The “Get Lucky” music producer has confided of his tattoos, “I was just young and dumb. I ended up getting them as fast as I could, just going through a really crazy rebellious period.” But after his son was born, Williams checked himself into laser treatment and underwent a new removal system, similar to skin grafting. “These guys actually grow the skin for you,” he said. “First, you have to give them a sample of your skin, which they then replicate. Once that’s been done, they sew it on — and it’s seamless.”

Paris Hilton and Nick Carter: During their fling in 2004, Carter got a “Paris” tattoo on the inside of his wrist while the Hilton heiress reportedly had his name written on her bottom! Both had them lasered off.

Russell Brand: After the actor got engaged to Katy Perry in 2010, they marked the occasion with matching Sanskrit arm tattoos that read, “Anuugacchati Pravaha,” meaning “go with the flow.” But after they divorced after just 14 months, he reportedly went to an ink shop called Shamrock Tattoo to have his taken off.

Roseanne Barr and Tom Arnold: When the Roseanne star and comedian were married in the early ‘90s, they believed so much their love would last that they got tattoos honoring each other. Arnold’s four tats for his then-wife included a portrait of her face on his chest! After their 1994 divorce, he had all his tats removed while Roseanne camouflaged hers.
