Serena Williams, 36, enjoyed quite a celebration this Wednesday evening! Sister Venus Williams couldn’t help but surprise the bride-to-be with a gorgeous princess-like rehearsal dinner.
The event took place at Meril restaurant in New Orleans. Owner Emeril Lagasse was spotted arriving early to make sure everything was perfect for the famous duo. According to a source, a beignet and coffee truck was parked outside the hotspot, likely waiting for the guests to finish their meal and stop by for a quick sweet bite.
Invitees included the tennis pro’s closest A-lister pals and family members. Eva Longoria, 42, and hubby José Bastón, 49, were two of the lucky guests. Venus and Serena’s mom was also there. A source told RadarOnline.com that guests arrived around 6:00pm. Serena and Alexis went in through a back entrance and surprised their beloved pals. The source claimed there were about 150 people already inside!
As RadarOnline.com readers know, Serena and Alexis, 34, secretly dated for 15 months before announcing their engagement. The Reddit co-founder surprised his lady with a stunning diamond ring in late December, and soon after, they became new parents!
Venus, 37, who could not be happier for her sister, put together a close group of friends to attend the pre-wedding activities, but rumor has it that much bigger names will attend tonight’s Beauty And The Beast wedding ceremony.
Kim Kardashian West, 37, Beyonce, 36, and Ciara, 32, are only three of the A-listers who are expected to attend Serena and Alexis’ wedding.
During Wednesday’s rehearsal dinner, Williams was seen looking like a floating angel in a sweet white dress. Venus wore a matching one to support her look-alike sis.
The rehearsal dinner – like the upcoming wedding – took place in The Big Easy because it is a special place for Serena. The hall she and Alexis will get married in today (the Contemporary Arts Center) also holds a deep meaning – though it will be entirely transformed for their glamorous ceremony.
Just this August, Serena had a ‘50s-themed baby shower where she was joined by her celebrity gal-pals. Apparently, her wedding will be no different.
