After getting scoffed at for posing for selfies with fans while on their worldwide tour, longtime British Royals expert, Phil Dampier, told RadarOnline.com exclusively, “Prior to this trip Harry often refused to do selfies but Meghan has done many on this trip, hugged kids, stayed longer at several locations and taken her time to talk to members of the public. Royal protocol is out of the window and Meghan is bringing a fresh new look for the 21st century.”

According to Dampier, who is the author of Royally Suited: Harry & Meghan In Their Own Words, the days of the Duchess being forced to walk several steps behind are over. “Meghan has shown she is going to do things her way on the tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga. Old fashioned courtiers might not like it, but I can’t see her changing her style. She often walked a few paces in front of Harry instead of behind him, but he doesn’t mind.”

What about all of the hugs that Prince Harry and Meghan have been giving? “Harry has become a big hugger, especially where injured servicemen taking part in his Invictus Games are concerned, so I wasn’t surprised there were lots of hugs on this trip from both of them,” Dampier said.

While on tour, Meghan was often seen stroking and caressing the Prince! What does the Queen think of this? According to the expert also well-versed in Royal Protocol, “What Harry and Meghan are doing are a continuation of what Will and Kate are doing. They are not breaking protocol so to speak. They are modernizing it. It is no secret that the Queen has taken quite a liking to Meghan. The Majesty is quite happy to see Harry and Meghan doing their own thing.”

One of the biggest criticisms while on tour was Meghan’s flesh-baring outfit choices. But Dampier told RadarOnline.com that the days of women being forced to cover up their bodies is over! “There was the inevitable comparison to Diana when Meghan wore an outfit which showed off her figure as the light shone through it from behind, but no one seems worried these days,” Dampier revealed.

“Meghan doesn’t seem to wear hats very much, which is departure for female royals, but if she feels comfortable that way, then Harry will not stop her,” Dampier added.
