In a heartbreaking final plea, cancer-ravaged Olivia Newton-John has begged to see her long-missing lover one last time before she dies, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal! Cameraman Patrick McDermott was presumed dead after vanishing on a fishing trip to Mexico in June 2005, only days after splitting with Olivia. But a private detective who investigated McDermott’s disappearance believes he deliberately went missing in a bid to avoid financial problems.
“Of course, Olivia is happily married to John Easterling now,” spilled a source. “But what happened to Patrick has gnawed at her for all these years!
“At this point, Olivia doesn’t care what Patrick did or why he did it. She would just like to know that he’s all right.”
Referring to McDermott’s disappearance, the 70-year-old “Grease” songbird has said, “One of the hardest things is not knowing,” describing the entire ordeal as “traumatic.”

As RadarOnline.com recently reported, Olivia is clinging to life in hopes of seeing her only child, Chloe Lattanzi, marry her longtime fiancé.
The “Physical” singer was hit with a devastating stage 4 cancer diagnosis in 2017 and has stunned doctors by staving off what is almost a certain death sentence.
Now, Olivia just wants to be sure her former lover is OK, according to sources — and a private detective who has worked on the case has offered her hope.
The investigator believes McDermott staged his disappearance because of money woes caused by a messy divorce from ex-wife Yvette Nipar, mother of his son, Chance.
McDermott was said to be hiding out in a town close to Puerto Vallarta on Mexico’s Pacific coast, working on yachts owned by a drug cartel.
“We knew where he was,” said the private eye, adding: “At the time, he worked on a private yacht owned by a cartel family. His attorney called from Mexico City, and said he didn’t want to be bothered.
“He’s in a very dangerous area. People are getting shot, killed. The cartels are pretty grim and it’s pretty tough.”
The source added he believes McDermott is aware of Olivia’s rapidly failing health and may be weighing a return from exile.
“I feel the word has got to him. I would love to think that the relationship they had, it would affect him some way,” the insider said.
“His ex-girlfriend has cancer. I feel very bad for him and for her. It’s a story that needs closure, but that’s up to him.”
