After a long battle for life that drew in both sides of her family, notably her father Bobby Brown, Bobbi Kristina — who became a social media sensation after her mother's February 2012 death — passed away July 26 at a hospice in the area, closing the book on a true Hollywood tragedy.

According to a New York Times report released March 2, presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton had used her own email accounts to communicate official government information in the timespan she served as Secretary of State.

As of early November, the State Department had published in excess of 27,000 pages of emails she sent between 2009 and 2012, presenting what could be the politician's biggest obstacle in her 2016 presidential campaign.

Calling himself "the biggest hypocrite ever," Duggar said that he harbored "a secret addiction" to porn and "became unfaithful to my wife," leading to a trip to rehab.

Richard Matt, seen here, partnered with fellow convict David Sweat in an elaborate plan to escape the Clinton Correctional Facility in New York, which they did June 6 with the help of a prison employee Joyce Mitchell, who both had sexual ties to. He was shot and killed by authorities after a massive manhunt June 26.

Matt's escape partner Sweat, seen here, was caught two days later on June 28 when he was located and shot by police. He since has agreed to testify against Mitchell, the prison worker who helped the men by smuggling the pair tools hidden in ground beef.

Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce, revealed her new name, and showed off the results of her male-to-female transition in a Annie Leibovitz-shot photo on the cover of Vanity Fair released in June.

In the controversial 22-page story written by famed journalist Buzz Bissinger, Caitlyn held nothing back against ex-wife Kris Jenner, claiming her arrogant, condescending behavior accelerated the end of their marriage.

Rachel Dolezal, an NAACP chapter president in Spokane, Wash., catapulted to instant fame in June when it was revealed that she was actually born white, when it was believed that she was black.

Dolezal, who resigned from the high-profile position after the scandal erupted, told Matt Lauer on the TODAY Show that she has "identified as being black" since her childhood. She found a fan in Rihanna, who told November's Vanity Fair that she considered Dolezal "a bit of a hero, because she kind of flipped on society a little bit."

Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested in Los Angeles in June after a skirmish with one of his son Justin's football coaches at UCLA, Sal Alosi.

The brash rapper, authorities said, was taken into custody in connection with assault with a deadly weapon after tossing a kettlebell weight in Alosi's direction. The rapper, who charges were subsequently dropped against, later said, "As a Combs, my sons have to be able to take a lot, they can't have no soft skin."

In an even bigger fall from grace than Josh Duggar, Subway pitchman Jared Fogle's perverted practices were uncovered by officials in July with a raid on his Indiana home, followed by a plea deal in which he admitted to counts linked to child pornography and traveling for sex with a minor.

Fogle agreed to pony up $1 million in restitution to 14 victims, and serve a sentence between five and 12 and-a-half years ahead of his Nov. 19 sentencing.

In the second major jailbreak of the summer, incarcerated drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman busted out of a maximum-security Mexican prison July 11, through a secret tunnel that had been dug and developed with his escape in mind.

Guzman, who remains at large months later, had previously busted out of a Mexican prison in 2001, and remained on the lam for 13 years until he was brought back into custody in February 2014.

It's been a tragic year for Lamar Odom, who saw two of his best friends — Bobby Heyward and Jamie Sangouthai — die in drug-related deaths before nearly dying himself in an October overdose at a Nevada brothel.

Khloe Kardashian quickly rushed to Odom's side and called off their pending divorce, but later put her romantic plans with Odom on the back burner amid tension between the two, and her ongoing romance with current NBA star James Harden.
