Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber played a compilation of his music during the Broadway at the White House event in the State Dining Room. On Thanksgiving, TLC cameras will followed deserving high school students who were chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend an all-day symposium on careers in theater.

President Barack Obama's wife greeted Gloria Estefan in the Diplomatic Room of the White House. Broadway at the White House was produced by The Weinstein Company and Zero Visibility Inc. for TLC. The idea for the special originated from a similar event at the White House in 2013, spearheaded by Harvey Weinstein, The Weinstein Company and Academy-Award winning producer Bruce Cohen. That event centered around the film industry and brought some of Hollywood's biggest names in for a day of film and cinema workshops with students.

The television special will be hosted by Kristin Chenoweth and Finding Neverland's Matthew Morrison. Others who participated in Broadway At The White House included Whoopi Goldberg, Gloria Estefan, Finding Neverland's Matthew Morrison and Laura Michelle Kelly, Christian Borle, Cicely Tyson and the casts of Finding Neverland, Fun Home, An American in Paris, On Your Feet!, School of Rock and Something Rotten.

"Over the years we've hosted all kinds of performances to highlight our nation's talent and honor our cultural heritage from Gospel to Motown to Country," First Lady Obama said. "And tonight we're celebrating another cornerstone of our culture by taking a trip to Broadway."

Mrs. Obama expanded on the one-hour special that airs on TLC on Thanksgiving. "For over 100 years Broadway has been bringing us together to make us laugh, to make us cry, to make us think, and most of all, to tell our stories. And since America is such a big, bold, beautiful nation that's how our stories are told on Broadway. With show-stopping dance routines and soaring musical numbers and heart-wrenching, side-splitting performances that we never forget."
