This Tuesday, January 29 at around 2:00 a.m., two men began following Jussie Smollett, 36, down a dark street in Chicago, allegedly yelling racial insults before brutally jumping him. The men in ski masks pushed him to the ground, battered him with their hands and poured an unknown chemical substance on him. They then tied a noose around his neck and ran off. Bystanders said they shouted MAGA slurs while punching the openly-gay star.
Smollett’s attack is being regarded as a possible homophobic and racist hate crime by police. Following the beating, the actor took himself to the hospital and was treated for his injuries. It’s unknown if he’s been released.
Though Chicago police have not yet found any surveillance footage of the actual attack, RadarOnline.com confirmed they identified several “persons of interest” related to the horrific crime.
