Amber Heard allegedly suffered through months of physical and verbal abuse at the hand of husband Johnny Depp, including one incident when he attempted to smother her with a pillow, a friend told Page Six .

According to the publication, Heard texted her female pal after an alleged assault last December, one of the events listed in the official documents. When the friend arrived at the couple's L.A. home, concerned, she reportedly discovered the actress looking "battered and bruised."

"I got to her apartment to find her with a cut and bruised lip, a swollen eye and a chunk of hair missing from the top of her head," the friend claimed. "This incident really stuck with me because she confided in me that day that she feared for her life after an intoxicated Johnny tried to suffocate her with a pillow."

According to Heard's pal, this wasn't Depp's first offense, either. "I have personally witnessed the aftermath of Johnny Depp's violent and abusive behavior towards her on many occasions," she said.

Heard kept the grim proof "as evidence should the worst case scenario come to pass and so people would really know what happened," continued the source. Some of the evidence allegedly includes text messages Depp sent to Heard in which he "apologizes for violence and blames alcohol." Entertainment Tonight obtained texts detailing the alleged abuse, which were reportedly exchanged between Heard and Depp's former assistant back in 2014.

After bringing her evidence to court last Friday, Heard has been granted a temporary restraining order.

But Depp won't go down without a fight. The actor's legal team has vehemently denied Heard's allegations, accusing her of coming after his fortune.

"Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse," Depp's divorce attorney, Laura Wasser, said in a statement.
