Burton has since sued Carrey, 54, in a wrongful death case, claiming he tried to cover up his "complicity in Cathriona's death" after the fact with a "bogus text message" in which he pretended that "he had misplaced the drugs."

White's mother, Brigid Sweetman, sued Carrey as well, alleging that her daughter overdosed after learning Carrey had given her three sexually transmitted diseases.
