Versace was just 50 years old when Cunanan savagely shot the fashion icon and left him for dead.
His beloved mansion in Florida’s trendy South Beach was the scene of Versace’s untimely death.
A pool of blood surrounded Versace on the steps of his home after Cunanan fired off two shots, striking his victim in the head.
Versace was 27-year-old Cunanan’s fifth and final victim of the college dropout’s three-month cross-country killing spree.
As the Miami-Dade police moved in on Cunanan eight days after Versace’s slaying, the coward killed himself aboard a houseboat.
“I don’t know that we are ever going to know the answers,” said Miami Beach Police Chief Richard Barreto of why Cunanan hunted down and killed Versace.
Versace was mourned in Miami and around the world after his savage murder.
