The star's publicist confirmed the reports of his passing at the age of 77. Mahoney's longtime manager, Paul Martino, said on Monday that Mahoney died after a brief hospitalization. The cause of death was not immediately announced.
Aside from appearing in about 30 movies, including five as a voice actor in such animated classics as Antz and The Iron Giant, Mahoney battled colon cancer which left him with a years-long bout of absolutely no sex!

Romantic life, he said in a shocking 2008 interview, “doesn’t exist for me anymore," he said.
"I think that's dead and buried."
He battled colon cancer in the mid-80s and had to have major surgery.
“I have a colostomy,” revealed Mahoney. “I really couldn’t have sex after that.”
"I’m very happy by myself and with my friends, but no, I’m definitely not involved with anybody," he admitted. "Nor do I ever look to be."
While a life of romance may have been out of the picture for late actor, Mahoney maintained close relationships with his co-workers.
Kelsey Grammer has said his close relationship with TV dad Mahoney helped him to overcome his own family tragedy. Grammer's estranged dad was shot dead on the Caribbean isle of St. Thomas when he was only 13 years old. He says the killing left a big gap in his life but Mahoney helped fill the hole.
