Eric Dane made his first public appearance after the announcement that he was stepping away from his TNT show The Last Ship to seek treatment for depression. The former Grey's Anatomy star hit the red carpet with his wife Rebecca Gayheart and their two daughters at the 16th Annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball on Saturday night. He's back! Dane, 44, showed up with Gayheart, 45, and their girls Billie, 7, and Georgia, 5, to the Chrysalis Ball event in Brentwood, Calif., which raises money to help poverty and homeless causes.
In a shocker in April, Dane's representative announced he was briefly stepping back from his TV series. "Eric asked for a break to deal with personal issues. He suffers from depression and has asked for a few weeks of downtime and the producers kindly granted that request," the publicist said in a statement.
Production was halted on Dane's TNT show The Last Ship so Dane could seek treatment for depression. As Radar has reported, in the wake of Dane's news, his wife Gayheart was caught out with another man!
Dane's wife Gayheart was seen with another guy at her pal Jessica Alba's 36th birthday party after Dane announced his depression battle. As Radar has reported, Dane told pals he needed time off to "really address his feelings" for the sake of his wife and two daughters.
Dane stepped back into the public eye at the Saturday event and mingled with his celebrity friends again! But onlookers said he appeared subdued at the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball, turning down interview requests there.
The star famed as doctor "McSteamy" on Grey's Anatomy posed for pictures and hung out with his wife and kids at the bash, but didn't speak to the press. No doubt he didn't want to answer questions about his depression and treatment.
Dane plays Capt. Tom Chandler on TNT's The Last Ship and his rep said "he looks forward to returning" to the show, set to return Aug. 20 for its fourth season. The actor and his actress wife Gayheart became famous for a bizarre threesome home video that they made with a pal. It was not a sex tape, but certainly raised eyebrows!
It's not the first time Dane has suffered personal problems. He went to rehab in 2011 for an addiction to painkillers. "Actor Eric Dane voluntarily checked himself into a treatment facility to help him get off of pain medication that he was prescribed for a sports injury," a statement from his rep said in 2011.
