Sex, Fights & Jealousy: Secrets Of 'Duck Dynasty' Star John Luke's Young Christian Marriage
Is he crazy? Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson's oldest son John Luke proposed to his girlfriend, Mary Kate McEacharn, at just 19 years old, and said "I do" at 20. They may be in love, but the Christian marriage is far from perfect, the now 21-year-old admits in his new tell-all, Young & Beardless.
After meeting Mary Kate at a Christian camp before high school, John Luke asked her out on dates repeatedly only to face constant rejection. Eventually, she changed her mind — but he had a girlfriend! "I know I missed my shot…but I have to tell you this: you're an amazing guy. Whether you choose me or this other girl, I know you're a godly man and will pray about it," she allegedly told him. "I know you'll make the right decision. I trust you." Of course, he soon chose her.
After high school, Mary Kate went away to college about a half-hour from their hometown of West Monroe, Louisiana. Though they weren't kept apart by distance, the relationship was tested when a fraternity brother took an interest in Mary Kate. One day, John Luke caught them texting each other about a tee-shirt the guy, nicknamed "Frat," planned to give her.
John Luke flew into a jealous rage. "So, wait. Are you going to wear it? I mean — it's a tank top, so what are you going to do with it?" he claims he told his girlfriend. "It's a tank top for a fraternity." When she countered that it was just a "free shirt," he snapped back: "No, it's not just a free shirt. Don't give me that!"

Still seething with jealousy, John Luke created his own "fraternity" tee-shirt for his girlfriend. "My tank top was so much better than his," he insists.
So young! John Luke proposed to Mark Kate on his 19th birthday. "I knew that the feelings Mary Kate and I had for each other were feelings of love," he says. "I also knew that we could come together, keep our promises, and create a life in which we experience a deeper sense of love through Christ."
More fights: John Luke called his then-fiancee "unsupportive" when she became "annoyed" by his bizarre new sleep schedule, which included four naps a day and a sleepless night. "I was walking around like an extra on The Walking Dead," he admits.
Sex & Christianity: John Luke says he and his wife follow minister Andy Stanley's book The New Rules For Love, Sex, and Dating. "He warns that our oversexualized culture can never deliver the satisfaction it promises, so we have to stop looking in all the wrong places for the right relationships," the reality star explains.
