Drew’s 19-Day Husband Tells All — ‘I Married Her Because She Was Cute!’

Drew Barrymore’s first husband has spilled the beans on their whirlwind romance — and a marriage that basically started and ended on the same day! “I didn’t marry her because she was Drew Barrymore, I married her because she was cute!” British-born Jeremy Thomas told RadarOnline.com. Wild child Barrymore was already famous for her role in E.T. and had been through several stints in rehab when she began hanging out at Thomas’ Hollywood bar, The Room. “She was probably a little bit underage when she first started coming to the bar. But she just fit in with everyone,” he recalled. “She was a fun young girl and she’d come in with her friends.”
The actress was just 19 and Jeremy was 31 when they tied the knot in the wee hours of March 20, 1994, after partying at The Room. “Drew, Jeremy and six friends were sitting around The Room at 4 a.m. when someone kidded Drew that she should marry Jeremy because they’re so much in love,” recalled one of Thomas’ buddies.
Thomas called a 24-hour minister who agreed to come at 5:30 a.m. to perform the ceremony but charged an extra $20 to show up at such short notice, said his pal. The bride wore a borrowed white silk slip dress and combat boots, while a pit bull stood in as maid of honor!
The pair exchanged vows on the roof of the bar, but predictably the union didn’t last. The very next day, Barrymore jetted off to Tucson, Ariz., to film Boys on the Side. For the flaky actress, the marriage was already over. “I realized my mistake on the day I married him,” she has said.
Despite that, Thomas insisted they talked every day on the phone while she was filming. “Drew would tell me how much she missed me and loved me,” he told RadarOnline.com. “On one of her breaks, we checked into a suite at a luxury hotel and everything was perfect.”
Thomas also revealed Barrymore was kinky in bed! “We were making love when suddenly she ripped my shirt off — ripped it to shreds,” he recalled. “Sometimes she’d rip her own clothes off while making love!”
The couple made plans to honeymoon in Hawaii, but the moment Barrymore finished filming, she walked out on him. “I got a phone call from her — in Hawaii! She’d gone off on our honeymoon without me,” recalled Thomas.
Divorce papers soon followed, with Barrymore claiming Thomas married her for her money and a green card.
The Charlie’s Angels star went on to wed and divorce wacky comic Tom Green.
Now starring in the Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet, Barrymore is a single mom, raising two daughters by her third ex-husband, Will Kopelman.
Looking back, Thomas chalks up their 19-day marriage to the bizarreness of celebrity. “We led two completely different lifestyles,” he said. “I was on planet Earth — and Drew was on planet Hollywood!” We pay for juicy info!
