Today, July 20, 2019, marks the second anniversary of Chester Bennington’s tragic death.
Many of the Linkin Park rocker’s fans and loved ones took to social media to remember him on Saturday. His former bandmates were among many who showed their love.
On their official Instagram page, they posted the photo of the group smiling, with the caption, “Remembering Chester today. Feel free to share your favorite moment of Chester / LP in the comments below.”
As readers know, Bennington died by suicide in his Palos Verdes, California, home on July 20, 2017 at just 41 years old.
His death was ruled a suicide by hanging. RadarOnline.com later exclusively reported MDMA (ecstasy) was in his system at the time of his death.
The Linkin Park frontman, as fans know, struggled with drug abuse, suicide attempts and depression.
At the scene of the death, his wife Talinda told cops in 2006 he left the house with a gun after a drinking bender. She also noted Bennington, who was reportedly six months sober, hadn’t taken his prescribed antidepressants in over a year but was currently in an outpatient treatment program.
The rock star had also forshadowed his suicide in his last interview before he passed.
“I came to a point in my life where I was like, ‘I can either just give up and f*****g die or I can f*****g fight for what I want. I chose to fight for what I wanted. I wanted to have good relationships. I wanted to love the people in my life. I wanted to enjoy my job,” he said. “I wanted to enjoy being a dad and having friends and just getting up in the morning. Because that was a struggle for me.”
Following Bennington’s death, RadarOnline.com exclusively reported there is a battle over the rights to his music. Talinda, who had five children with the star, and his first wife Samantha who said he missed out on child support payments for their children, have filed a claim over the estate. The fight could reportedly take a year to be settled.
