Yikes! After their very public breakup last summer, Charlize Theron and Sean Penn gave one another the cold shoulder during a press event in Cannes for their new movie, The Last Face.

As RadarOnline.com readers know, the pair suddenly split last summer, with sources saying Theron "ghosted" poor Penn.

But during a recent interview with WSJ magazine, the 40-year-old explained that she didn't "ghost" her former flame, and in fact, she didn't even know what "ghosting" was !

According to the magazine, the duo avoided all interaction during the event.

As for the split, Theron offered a simple explanation of where it all went wrong.

"We were in a relationship and then it didn't work anymore," she added plainly during her tell-all interview. "And we both decided to separate. That's it."
