Celebrities and direct messages could be great. It could also be a recipe for disaster. For one group of celebrities, that’s exactly what it was. RadarOnline.com has collected a list of celebs who took fan engagement a little too far and were caught sliding into some DMs.

Social media has been a blessing and a curse for some celebs. While it would be nice to engage with fans, some celebrities went a bit overboard and veered into creepiness. Fantasizing about celebrities is one thing, but having them message you directly is an entirely different thing. Check out who made the list.
1. James Franco
James Franco may be an actor and director extraordinaire, but his relationships with women has gone off the deep end. It certainly didn’t help his reputation when he was caught sliding into the DMs of a 17-year-old Scottish girl in 2014. The fan in question was Lucy Clode, who was in New York celebrating her 18th birthday early at a showing of Of Mice and Men, starring Franco at the time. While an authorgraph would have sufficed, Franco took it upon himself to offer Clode a night in a hotel room. While his initial response to the ordeal was an awkward, since-deleted tweet where he stated, “I HOPE PARENTS KEEP THEIR TEENS AWAY FROM ME,” he eventually admitted to using “bad judgement” during an interview on Live With Kelly And Michael.
2. Justin Bieber
Pop superstar Justin Bieber didn’t exactly slide into a fan’s dms, but he certainly found himself in an embarrassing situation trying to land himself a date. In a funny yet awkward post, gym worker Jessica Gober tweeted a screenshot of a direct message sent to her employer by Bieber attempting to find out who she was.
3. Lebron James
NBA star LeBron James has been relatively scandal free for most of his career, but he did have one embarrassing moment in 2017 when he took a shot he shouldn’t have. LeBron, a married man, slipped into Instagram model Heidi Hoback’s dms asking her to teach him how to hunt in exchange for some basketball lessons.
4. Drake
DAILY. BREAKING. CELEBRITY NEWS. ALL FREE.
Drake didn’t slip into just anyone’s dms. The person in question was former adult film star, Mia Khalifa, and this just had to make the list on account of Khalifa’s all around desire for Mia. In an interview with CBS Miami 560 WQAM, Khalifa revealed that she had received “cringe worthy,” half naked photos from a celebrity who’s name rhymes with rake. Yeah, not so subtle in hiding his identity. He started from the bottom, now he’s slipping into dms.
5. A$AP Rocky
Joining fellow rapper Drake was Kylie Jenner’s ex boy toy, A$AP Rocky. This incident, however, started a small Instagram feud between him and rapper 50 Cent. A$AP had actually slipped into 50 Cent’s ex-girlfriend, Tatted Up Holly’s dms, and the rapper outed A$AP’s messages on Instagram. While 50 Cent was combative, letting Rocky know he had given Holly “habits” that Rocky couldn’t afford, Rocky was more diplomatic in his response, noting that he didn’t know she was his and had respect for the rapper.
6. Tyga
Okay, so Kylie’s got a type. Yet another one of her exes was caught slipping into someone’s dms but this one was a whole lot creepier. Tyga reached out to aspiring 14-year-old singer, Molly O’Malia, wondering when she’d be in L.A. to meet up. According to a friend of Molly’s, Tyga “texted her every day” and even tried to Facetime her.
7. Mike Epps
Some people tend to forget how open social media can be. Mike Epps was one of those people. The comedian was caught red-handed after he Tweeted to a fan asking her to dm him. The keyword being, “Tweeted,” and not “DM.” Mike had publicly tweeted to the fan, in plain view of everyone, including his then-wife who hilariously chimed in. Safe to say he probably slept on the couch that night?
8. Anthony Weiner
Anthony Weiner just couldn’t contain himself. Like, at all! In yet another sex scandal, the disgraced former New York congressman accidentally tweeted out a sexually explicit photograph of himself to a 21-year-old woman from Seattle. While he was initially vague about the validity of the photo, he eventually admitted to sending the photo. Weiner stated, “I lied because I was ashamed at what I had done, and I didn't want to get caught,” in a press conference during his New York City mayoral campaign.
