Cheating with a married director when you’re one half of one of the most famous couples in the world is a bold move. But when you’re Kristen Stewart and you decide to canoodle with married filmmaker Rupert Sanders in a public spot, while your boyfriend Robert Pattinson is nowhere in sight, you’re just asking for trouble. And that’s what the actress got in 2012 after the paparazzi caught her in a compromising position with the Snow White and the Huntsman director.

LeAnn Rimes & Eddie Cibrian

You can only deny rumors that you’re having an affair for so long. And costars LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian had to admit they were cheating on their respective spouses back in 2009 when CCTV footage at a California restaurant caught them kissing during a clandestine meeting. Five years later the Cibrians and Eddie’s ex-wife Brandi Glanville are still filling gossip column inches with their backbiting and fighting.

Jason Aldean & Brittany Kerr

If country music star Jason Aldean was trying to get caught cheating on his wife he couldn’t have done it in a more effective way. By making out with former American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr in a Los Angeles bar in 2012 while still married to his high school sweetheart, he risked getting caught. By doing so on the patio area where everyone could see them getting frisky, he virtually guaranteed it.

Ashton Kutcher

There were rumors that there was trouble in paradise between Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore long before the Two and a Half Men star was snapped partying with a pretty blonde in his bedroom at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego. To add insult to injury the 2011 incident with 22-year-old Sara Leal – the alleged mistress – took place on the couple’s sixth wedding anniversary. When Moore announced their split later on that year she released a statement saying: “There are certain values and vows that I hold sacred…”

Balthazar Getty & Sienna Miller

There is only one thing more brazen than one celebrity getting photographed having an extra marital affair and that’s when he or she is sleeping with someone equally famous. Enter Balthazar Getty and Sienna Miller who were snapped cavorting during a 2008 Italian vacation. Topless Miller seemed blissfully happy while Getty’s wife Rosetta Millington and their four children had to face the headlines and paparazzi shots back at home.

Katharine McPhee

Get a room! That’s what Katharine McPhee must have wished she and Smash director Michael Morris had done after paparazzi shots of them kissing in an L.A. parking lot became public. She was reportedly separated from her husband when the October 2013 photos were taken but her kissing partner was – and still is – very much married.

Ryan Philippe & Abbie Cornish

Back in 2006 Ryan Philippe and Abbie Cornish were snapped looking very cozy while filming the movie Stop Loss. Philippe was married to actress Reese Witherspoon at the time. The Oscar-winner later filed for divorce after allegedly spotting sexting messages between her husband and another, unidentified woman.

In  2008 the National Enquirer published photos of former Presidential hopeful John Edwards making a late night visit to see his lovechild and mistress Rielle Hunter. Despite the pictures, which saw him clearly cradling the little girl, Edwards – then married to his wife Elizabeth at the time – publicly denied that he was either having an affair or that he was the baby’s father.

No sooner had he come out of the closet than CNN anchor Anderson Cooper was hit with a cheating scandal back in 2012. The silver fox’s boyfriend Ben Maisani was photographed passionately kissing another man while out in a New York City park. A source told the New York Daily News that it was the pictures themselves that made it “a big deal” and upset Cooper “more than anything.”

Next to the queen she was the most famous Elizabeth in the world at the time that she was snapped romping with her co-star on a Mediterranean yacht. The cat was out of the bag and the famous 1962 shot showing Elizabeth Taylor and her Cleopatra co-star Richard Burton openly having an affair while married to other people deserves its spot in the paparazzi hall of fame.

Well it wasn’t the cookie jar but rapper The-Dream was caught with his hand being somewhere that it shouldn’t have been during a 2010 Caribbean jaunt. The woman that he was frolicking on the beach with was not his then wife, singer Christina Milian. It was his assistant Melissa Santiago.

Vance McAllister

If there is anything that public figures should learn from 2014 is to be mindful of surveillance video. Congressman Vance McAllister got caught out earlier this year in footage shot outside his district office showing him kissing and cuddling employee Melissa Anne Hixon Peacock. The Louisiana congressman, who promised to uphold the “values of faith, family and country” during his campaign, later apologized for his actions after stills from the footage were published in the Ouachita Citizen.
