The first Monday in May is always a day of joy for stylish New Yorkers, Hollywood fans, and fashion aficionados. It is the day everyone’s favorite A-listers dress up in their finest and wildest outfits to walk the red (or in this case, pink) carpet on the Metropolitan Museum steps. This year was no different. The bash’s theme was Camp: Notes on Fashion, a slogan which stars took to mean flashy, colorful, and over-the-top.
Actors, models, and media personalities showed up in wild movie-inspired looks and couture ensembles made to fit the vibrant party dress code.
When it came time to pose for photos at the 2019 Met Gala, the stars brought their A-game, and many of them went equally hard when it came to choosing their afterparty looks.
Lady Gaga turned heads with her four-piece outfit, and the Kardashian-Jenner clan made jaws drop with their sexy red-carpet looks and even sexier afterparty dresses.
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner made their red-carpet debut as a married couple at the event, but were not spotted at the high-profile afterparties. The newlyweds — who shocked everyone by tying the knot in a secret Las Vegas ceremony after the 2019 Billboard Music Awards — matched in colorful geometric Louis Vuitton by Nicolas Ghesquière looks. Sophie, 23, wore a jumpsuit, while Joe, 29, looked cool in a skin-tight turtleneck. The Game of Thrones actress finished her look with a shimmering metallic hairdo and glamorous blue eye makeup.
Friends In High Places
One of the hottest afterparty stars was Rita Ora, who, for the afterparty, who wore an elaborate head piece, a black top, and matching pants to the post-gala bash. After strutting down the pink carpet, she attended the party held at the Standard Hotel in New York along with famous model friend Kate Moss.
Stylish Athlete
Serena Williams ditched the yellow skirt and cape she wore on the red carpet and kept only her corset top and red booty shorts for the bash. She paired the look with some matching sneakers and let her hair down for a more relaxed look.
Hungry For Attention?
Katy Perry took the cake. After showing up to the event in a chandelier costume, she changed into an oversized hamburger costume for the afterparty! Her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, did not come with.
Style Of A Billionaire
Kylie Jenner wore a gorgeous lilac Versace feathered gown to walk the pink carpet with her man, but when it came time to party, she changed into a bedazzled, aquamarine, feathered, cut-out dress and matching wig.
