Lupita Nyong'o and Amy Adams lit up the red carpet while Pharrell Williams and Jared Leto raised eyebrows at the 2014 Academy Awards.
Check out Radar's guide to the best, worst, and wackiest dressed stars.
Lady Gaga
WORST: Lady Gaga looked washed out in a glittery patterned strapless gown with a pastel pink scarf. Too conventional for the pop star. The ArtPop star did bling out the outfit with Lorraine Schwartz rose gold and 20 carat diamond studs, rose gold and diamond bracelet, and a rose gold and fancy grey diamond ring surrounded by pink diamonds.
Kate Hudson
BEST: Kate Hudson looked like a '40s movie star in a white gown with a deep v-neck, draped shoulders, and nipped-in waist.
Anna Kendrick
WORST: Anna Kendrick, we didn't need to see your midriff! Her black J Mendel dress left us not knowing where to look with the awful cutouts on top and red patterned netted part in the center. The Twilight star paired her look with Piaget’s Fan Elegance earrings in white gold and diamonds with black spinel, along with a Piaget Rose cocktail ring also in white gold with diamonds. Too busy!
Pharrell Williams Helen Lasichanh
WACKIEST: Phirst the hat at the Grammys, now this! Pharrell Williams showed up wearing a traditional tux on top with a bow tie -- but long shorts on the bottom. The musician's offbeat ensemble was made by Lanvin and he glammed up the outfit with Lorraine Schwartz gold and yellow diamond studs and Be Happy gold bracelets with Ofira Jewels gold ball bracelets with multi color diamonds.
June Squibb
WORST: We hate to pick on an 84-year-old, but June Squibb is too matchy matchy wearing a shimmery green dress with green earrings and green purse. The gown is by Tadashi Shoji.
Julia Roberts
WORST: Julia Roberts wasn't such a Pretty Woman in a black gown with a v-neck and lace insert in front. The peplum skirt was a bit much on her long tall body.
Sally Hawkings
WORST: Blue Jasmine star Sally Hawkings was all covered up -- in a bad way! Her glittery gown by Valentino was too overwhelming and the sleeves were too long.
Sandra Bullock
WORST: Sandra Bullock's strapless dress' dark blue tone didn't enhance her skin tone and it was a tad, well, boring for the Gravity star.
Anne Hathaway
BEST: Anne Hathaway ruled as a warrior princess in Gucci on Oscar night. She looked refreshingly different than the other stars as her metallic trend nod was in the form of a surprisingly flattering breast plate that fit her like a glove.
Kristen Bell
BEST: Kristen Bell donned a light grey, corseted back strapless gown by Roberto Cavalli and was dripping in diamonds with Piaget’s Rose Empress necklace and Rose earrings both in white gold. The actress, who was accompanied by husband Dax Shepard, said she dressed this way to honor the film she voiced, Frozen!
Kristin Chenoweth
BEST: Kristin Chenoweth was a stunner in a gold strapless Roberto Cavalli gown. "It's very art deco," she told Ryan Seacrest. "I loved the beading on it." She paired the glittering gown with Neil Lane yellow gold and diamond pin wheel earrings, a yellow gold chain bracelet, and a yellow gold and diamond ring. Kristin's best accessory was her Captain Phillips producer boyfriend Dana Brunetti.
Liza Minnelli
WACKIEST: Liza Minnelli was more fit for a Cabaret than the Oscars in a cobalt blue pant suit with a matching blue streak in her hair. She also went braless!
Olivia Wilde
BEST: Pregnant Olivia Wilde, who arrived with her soon-to-be baby daddy Jason Sudeikis, did her burgeoning bump proud in black sleeveless Valentino, accented by dangling earrings.
Amy Adams
BEST: Amy Adams looked classy in a very structured strapless navy blue Gucci couture dress with Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Collection 18k yellow gold rhodochrosite, lapis and turquoise earrings with diamonds, a Blue Book Collection 18k yellow gold square modified brilliant yellow diamond bracelet, a Blue Book Collection 18k yellow gold ring with fire opal, pink sapphire, yellow diamond and spessertite beads and a gold Tiffany Metro diamond band rings. The lavish jewerly beautifully set off her muted makeup and bun.
Lupita Nyong'o
BEST: Lupita Nyong'o got the fashionistas cheering on the red carpet in a soft pastel blue Prada gown. The feminine, light-as-air dress was cut low both in the back and front and Nyong'o explained to Ryan Seacrest it was a blue that reminded her of Nairobi, where the actress was born. Lupita accessorized like a princess, wearing a Fred Leighton 19th Century yellow gold and diamond coiled snake bracelet, an 18k yellow gold Frog ring, a 19th Century yellow gold, pearl and diamond ring, a 19th Century yellow gold and opal ring, a 1960's 18k gold, turquoise, and diamond ring, an 18k yellow gold and rose-cut diamond spiked crescent earrings, and an 18k yellow gold and diamond headband.
Jared Leto
WORST: Dallas Buyers Club best supporting actor nominee Jared Leto showed up in a white tux jacket and black tux pants, and a red bow tie. The look just didn't match Leto's wild '60s style hair and full beard!
Angelina Jolie
WORST: We never thought Angelina Jolie could look tacky, but this overdone metallic number with long sleeves and sheer illusion facade did not match her usual classy simplicity. She did wear a pair of stunning Robert Procop Exceptional Jewels Collection yellow gold round diamond drop earrings, but he superstar didn't need this much shine; she glows already!
Jennifer Lawrence
BEST: Jennifer Lawrence stood out on the red carpet -- in orange! The color and fitted look by Dior brought out the American Hustle star's beauty and she finished the look with black satin TRIBECA platform sandals by Brian Atwood. But klutzy Lawrence slipped and fell (again!) as she walked in.
Cate Blanchett
WORST: Cate Blanchett in floor-length Armani is as shimmery as a Christmas tree! The usually impeccable fashionista needed a better color and the silver discs stuck all over the gown are over the top!
Charlize Theron
BEST: Charlize Theron made a dramatic entrance in a low-cut black strapless dress with mermaid-style hem.
Jennifer Garner
WORST: Loved the soft wavy hair, but the square cut and tiers on Jennifer Garner's metallic dress make her look too wide. Ben Affleck's Mrs. also needed a pop of color in the purse instead of matching it to the gown.
Emma Watson
BEST: Like so many female stars on Oscar night, Emma Watson followed the metallic trend. But she didn't go overboard and the style of the dress matched her gamine charm.
Camilla Alves
BEST: This was a surprising look for Matthew McConaughey's sexy wife, but Camilla Alves appeared absolutely regal in a pale pink draped gown with lots of fabric on a cold night in Los Angeles. She paired her dress with matching Lorraine Schwartz rose gold and pink diamond earrings with rose gold and diamond ring.
Naomi Watts
WORST: The color suits her well, but Naomi Watts' embellished Calvin Klein dress looks too heavy for such a delicate actress. And Watts compounded the problem with a necklace she didn't need.
Kerry Washington
WORST: Hard dressing when you're very pregnant, but Kerry Washington could have done better. Her gown resembled a shiny grey sack and the Scandal star's makeup looked piled on.
Jada Pinkett-Smith
BEST: Jada Pinkett Smith's body looked banging as her shimmery pink dress was perfectly tailored. A true Grecian goddess!
