The Belvedere Vodka brand entered a new realm of globalization this Thursday, when it debuted its instantly-iconic bottle design to the New York Fashion Week crowd.
Designed by renowned Nigerian visual artist, Laolu Senbanjo, the bottle is a tasteful fusion of the brand’s elegant, icy-white polish and the creative’s energetic, highly-spiritual patterns.
The final black and white design is meant to embody “Senbanjo’s interpretation of the complexity, nuance and character of the Belvedere liquid,” according to the brand.
His mission: to reveal the unexpected beauty in the world.
Style and sophistication are not the only qualities the activist’s new bottle can boast of.
Senbanjo and Belvedere’s collaboration will also support the critical work of The Global Fund—and its ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa—as the proceeds from each bottle will go to the organization.
The much-awaited launch party took place this Thursday at The Whitney Museum of American Art and offered a variety of cool Belvedere Vodka-infused cocktails. Blasé tunes by New York City-based DJ collective, The Misshapes, set up a chic mood in the spacious venue, while striking blue lights brought the neon trend straight to the NYFW party scene.
Senbanjo—the visual designer of Beyoncé’s Lemonade album—made a fabulous entrance, and his eccentric designs beautified the otherwise stark-white walls of the art museum.
Celebrity guests in attendance included: Martha Hunt, Alex Lundqvist, Jackie Cruz, Nolan Funk, Helena Christensen, Dylan and Natalie Suarez, Kelly Bensimon, Leigh Lezark, Ana Villafane, Geordon Nicol, Jessica Barta Lam, Luke Ditella, Pauline Ducruet, Rotimi Akinosho, Sam Woolf, Simon Spurr, and many more.
Before the late-night fete, the brand debuted its Belvedere Vodka x Laolu collaboration with an expressive runway show featuring Senbanjo’s clothing designs and hand-drawn patterns.
He posed with models Martha Hunt, Helena Christensen and Nolan Funk after the show, wearing his own designs and carrying his one-of-a-kind bottle.
Belvedere Vodka and Laolu Senbanjo’s limited-edition will now be available in stores worldwide. Cheers!
