At some point during 1987, Momoa was watching The Cosby Show when a crush came over him like a tsunami. He recalled what happened on The Late Late Show with James Corden. “Mommy, I want that one,” he said on the now legendary 2017 visit to Corden’s late night hit. “I’m like, I’m going to stalk you for the rest of my life and I’m going to get you.” He didn’t admit this to his wife for years. The Aquaman star made his childhood dream a reality.

The pair met at a Los Angeles jazz club, per Us Weekly, and got along so famously that they headed elsewhere to down some Guinness and grits. Their attraction to each other was immediate and deep. “I can’t say it was full-on from the moment we saw each other, but we have been together from the day that we met,” Bonet told Net-a-Porter magazine. The former star of The Cosby Show and A Different World said that the Aquaman star established quite quickly that he was not intimidated by her fame. Keep in mind this was years before Momoa was a big star. “He basically picked me up and threw me over his shoulder, caveman style!” The duo were set up by a mutual friend, and Momoa made every effort to have the date be a success. “I actually had dreaded my hair for her. I had dreadlocks. She had dreadlocks,” he told Corden during that interview.
