As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the 35-year-old was found dead in her Florence, Italy apartment on Saturday, with two fractures to her skull and signs of strangulation.

Senegalese immigrant Cheik Tidiane Diaw was arrested on Thursday morning after authorities say they discovered his DNA from underneath Olsen's fingernails, as well as a condom and cigarette butt in her bathroom.

The pair had met earlier that evening in a local nightclub, where they were reportedly drinking and taking cocaine.

Under questioning, police claim Diaw confessed to a physical fight with the 35-year-old after they had consensual sex, insisting that he never intended to kill her.

Diaw allegedly told investigators that the argument started when Olsen tried to kick him out of her apartment because she was afraid that her boyfriend would arrive, NBC News reports. Diaw claims she kicked him, which started a shoving match. When Olsen turned her back, the 25-year-old said he punched her in the head.

Though Olsen's autopsy shows two fractures to the skull and signs of strangulation, Diaw claims he simply "picked her up by the neck" and placed her on the bed after their scuffle.

Olsen's body was discovered one day later, when her boyfriend and landlady came in to check on her after he hadn't heard from the blonde beauty in some time. Her father, who also lived in Florence, identified the body.
