Nicolas Cage is going to be a dad again at 57! The actor and his fifth wife, Riko Shibata, are adding an addition to their family.
The pair are expecting their first child together after tying the knot last year. Their representative confirmed the exciting news to PEOPLE, claiming, "The parents-to-be are elated."
The Face/Off actor is already a father to two sons — Kal-El, 16, and Weston, 31 — whom he shared with two of his former partners.
Cage and Shibata first met in Shiga, Japan, when mutual friends introduced them. At the time, Cage was in town to film Prisoners of the Ghostland.
They later married on February 16, 2021, in a "very small and intimate wedding at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas." The wedding date was decided to honor his late father's birthday.
The actor confirmed the news of the nuptials in a statement, saying, "It's true, and we are very happy."
According to reports, Cage popped the question via FaceTime before shipping the diamond ring through FedEx to Japan. In August, the actor announced his engagement on his brother Marc Coppola's radio show.
"She left New York and went back to Kyoto, Japan, and I went back to Nevada, and I haven't seen her for six months," Cage explained. "We're really happy together, and we're really excited to spend that time together, so I finally just said, 'Look, I wanna marry you,' and we got engaged on FaceTime."
Prior to meeting Shibata, the Ghost Rider star was already married to Patricia Arquette from 1995 to 2001, Lisa Marie Presley from 2002 to 2004, Alice Kim from 2004 to 2016, and Erika Koike in 2019 that lasted only for four days.
In his last divorce, he claimed in court documents that he "lacked understanding of his actions in marrying [Koike] to the extent that he was incapable of agreeing to the marriage."
Cage and Shibata made their red carpet debut as a couple in July last year at the premiere of his new film Pig at the Nuart Theatre in Los Angeles. The shutterbugs caught pictures of the duo all smiles while holding hands during their first appearance together.
