A New Mexico man has been convicted of double homicide after he killed two people over an argument that started after he received a bad haircut, RadarOnline.com has learned.

On Dec. 11, 2021, Mark Valencia, 42; Steven Singer, 40; Eva Aragon, 48; and David Sturgeon were consuming alcohol at Sturgeon’s residence in Pecos, Front Page Detectives reported. Valencia and Aragon were in a relationship at the time.

The murderer and his victims were all drinking alcohol at a residence in New Mexico.

Singer gave Valencia a haircut, which Valencia “was unhappy with” and an argument broke out. The argument escalated and Valencia left the residence to go to his car.

After Valencia left, the others proceeded to lock the front door. However, Valencia returned to the residence with a 9mm handgun and shot into the door around eight times to get back in, officials said.

After an argument, the killer went to his car and grabbed a gun before returning to the house.

Once inside the residence, Valencia shot Singer in the head. Aragon went to help Singer, which is when Valencia shot her in the head as well, officials said.

Valencia then started shooting at Sturgeon, who took cover in a closet and called 911.

That 911 call was used as evidence during the jury trial. Officials said gunshots and screaming could be heard on the recording, KRQE reported.

Investigators said they found gunshot defects in the door, kitchen and master bedroom of the home. In total, eight bullets were recovered from the scene.

Cops recovered eight bullets inside the home following the shooting.

Police discovered the 9mm handgun in Valencia’s car and it was matched to him through DNA analysis, officials said.

During the investigation, KRQE reported, Valencia was asked, “When you went to your car, why not just go home?” He replied, “I thought about it. I probably could have."

At trial, prosecutors argued Valencia made the deliberate choice to commit the murders. His defense countered that the alcohol consumed that evening inhibited him to the point of not being able to make a deliberate choice.

On Aug. 16, following a three-day trial, Valencia was convicted of double homicide, attempted murder, aggravated assault, shooting at a dwelling and negligent use of a firearm, KRQE reported.

He will be sentenced at a later date, officials said.
