New England's Spin On A Cuban Classic — Tribe's CBD Apple Cider Mojito
Dec. 16 2021, Published 1:20 p.m. ET
It’s hard to find a drink that’s more "autumnal" than apple cider. So, as we enter full-blown fall, we thought it’d be fitting to use this ingredient in a fun riff on the iconic mojito. While apple cider isn’t a part of Cuba’s cocktail heritage, we don’t think Cubans will mind this fruity take on their marvelous drink.
Oh yeah, and don’t forget to add a pinch of Tribe CBD oil to your apple cider mojito. You don’t need much of our high-quality hemp extract to take a mixed drink to another dimension.
CBD Apple Cider Mojito Recipe
Historians aren’t 100 percent sure where apple cider originated, but most agree 55 BC was a pivotal year for this beverage. It was in this year that Roman troops stormed into what’s now called the UK. Apparently, indigenous Celts had been making apple cider for centuries, and the Romans really liked it.
Soon after this invasion, Roman soldiers brought apple cider back to the Eternal City — and the rest is history! Apple cider became even more popular in the early American colonies since it was easier to grow apples than grains in New England.
However, it’s worth mentioning all early versions of apple cider were alcoholic. Not only did this make them a lot of fun to drink, it helped kill off bacteria. It’s only in the post-Prohibition era that folks had the option to buy non-alcoholic apple cider brands.

If you’re hip to the latest health trends, then you’ve probably seen a very different form of "apple cider" in supermarkets. Of course, we’re talking about that ancient "cure-all" apple cider vinegar (aka ACV).
While ACV and apple cider are similar, you can't use them interchangeably. Indeed, the flavors of these two ingredients are so different that most chefs don’t recommend subbing one for the other. If anything, you should only substitute apple cider for apple juice, or vice versa.
Unlike plain apple cider, ACV has to undergo a fermentation process that produces the chemical acetic acid. This compound seems to be responsible for ACV's health benefits, but it gives ACV a very acidic flavor.
Indeed, ACV is so harsh that it could wear away your teeth enamel if you’re not careful. If possible, try to drink ACV with a straw if you're going to experiment with this product.
