A maintenance man at an apartment complex in Indiana has been charged in connection with the murder of a 15-year-old girl whose body was found in the woods behind the units where he worked and the victim lived, RadarOnline.com has learned.
On Oct. 28, Demetria Boston reported her daughter, Janiya Carr, as a runaway, as Front Page Detectives reported.

Janiya Carr was reported to police as a runaway on Oct. 28, 2023.
According to the probable cause affidavit obtained by WTHR, surveillance video allegedly shows Carr getting into the passenger seat of a car belonging to 34-year-old Tevis Walker around 4:15 a.m.
About an hour later, the affidavit claims, Walker can be seen driving his car into the grass near where Carr’s body was found on Nov. 1 by a dog walker after she was shot to death.

After matching the DNA from the spit to the crime scene, an arrest was made.
Walker worked at the Carriage House East apartments in Indianapolis, the same complex where the victim lived with her mother.
According to investigators, Walker had warrants in Alabama and Georgia.

Carr's family is wondering how the apartment complex hired a man with warrants out in two states.
Boston told WTHR, “How is it that they allowed this man to work here knowing that he has a warrant out of Alabama. How can you allow that? I feel tortured.”

Once at the residence, officers found the victim's son sitting in the bathroom with no lights on.
In a statement, the apartment building's owners said they were “shocked and deeply saddened” to learn of Carr’s death.
They added they have been working with investigators but declined to provide further information.

"They failed us," Boston said. "That company failed us.”
Neighbors told investigators that Walker had been on the job for about a month.
Walker was arrested and was being held without bond, according to officials.
