Autopsy Scheduled For R&B Singer Keyshia Cole's Mother Frankie Lons Following Fatal Overdose On 61st Birthday
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death for R&B singer Keyshia Cole's mom, RadarOnline.com is told.
Frankie Lons died on Sunday after suffering an apparent overdose in her Oakland, CA home on her 61st birthday.
RadarOnline.com spoke to a representative for the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, who confirmed with the corner, telling us an autopsy "will be done in the next couple of days."
We've learned Frankie's cause of death will be determined within the next two weeks.
Keyshia's mom has struggled with addiction for decades. Her troubles were documented on the singer's BET reality show, Keyshia Cole: My New Life.
Keyshia's brother Sammy revealed the sad news on Monday.
He claimed Frankie overdosed after taking drugs on her birthday.
Keyshia's brother said he had been checking in on his mother daily, making sure she was on the right path towards sobriety.
Despite Frankie's struggles with addiction, Sammy wanted everyone to remember her for the love she gave her children, despite their years-long estranged relationship.
He later posted a photo of Frankie's driver's license and emotionally stated it was the only item he had of his mother's to remember her.
"My mother's last thing that I can remember her bye [sic]," Sammy wrote, adding that Frankie was a "simple woman" who "didn't own much."

Keyshia and Frankie's relationship was a work in progress for years.
Frankie and Keyshia's father, Virgil Hunter, gave the singer up for adoption when she was very young.
She was raised by family friends and reunited with her mother years later after she already found fame.
Keyshia made sure to always cheer on Frankie's success regarding her sobriety.
In February 2020, Keyshia posted a smiling photo with her mom and revealed Frankie was 30 days clean.

Keyshia has remained quiet regarding her mom's death.
