The 36-year-old Oscar winner discussed her appearance in a new interview.

A source said: "Jennifer's comments have opened her up to huge criticism online because she's talking about wanting to look like a s-xy mom when she has millions of dollars at her disposal to make that happen, and other moms obviously don't, no matter how upmarket the school is.

"It's all very well talking about looking fabulous at the school gates when you can afford the best surgeons, beauty treatments and whatever else you might need. Most mothers are simply trying to get their children dressed, fed and out of the house on time. They don't have the luxury of spending a fortune making themselves look picture-perfect.

"There's something rather tone-deaf about a multi-millionaire Hollywood star making such a big deal about wanting to look more glamorous than other mothers at the school drop-off."

The insider noted, "Jennifer is entitled to do whatever she wants with her appearance, and has a lot of time to take care of it, but the reality is that her circumstances couldn't be further removed from those of most working mothers. She has access to resources that ordinary women could only dream of, and that's why her comments risk coming across as completely out of touch.

"Jennifer has always been admired for seeming refreshingly down-to-earth, which is why this sudden focus on cosmetic procedures has surprised some people. She's talking openly about breast surgery, Botox, and potentially having a facelift, all while saying she wants to be a s-xy mom. There's an irony in someone who has built such a relatable public image discussing beauty standards that require an extraordinary amount of money to maintain."

Jennifer Lawrence Criticized Over Wealth and Beauty Standards

The movie star revealed she got b-east implants after breastfeeding her children.

"The thing people seem to find frustrating is that Jennifer can essentially buy access to the very best beauty treatments available, and the time off to recover," the source continued. "If she wants a procedure, she can consult a leading surgeon. If she wants her skin to look better, she can afford expensive treatments. Most mothers don't have those options, so there's a danger that her version of looking effortlessly glamorous feels like an impossible standard for everyone else.

"There's already enormous pressure on women to look a certain way after having children, and hearing a Hollywood star talk about wanting to be a s-xy mom doesn't necessarily help. Jennifer may simply be expressing her personal preferences, but not every mother has the money, time or inclination to undergo cosmetic surgery. Looking after children is demanding enough without feeling that you should also resemble a movie star at the school gates."

The insider said, "Jennifer became hugely popular partly because she seemed so comfortable being herself and didn't appear obsessed with Hollywood's beauty expectations. Now she's discussing cosmetic surgery and openly admitting that she wants to change certain things about her appearance. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, but it does represent a noticeable shift in how she's presenting herself publicly, and some fans are clearly struggling to reconcile the two images.

"Jennifer probably intended her comments to be funny and relatable, but there's a big difference between wanting to look good and having virtually unlimited resources to achieve it. For an ordinary mother, looking presentable at school drop-off might mean finding five minutes to put on makeup. For a wealthy celebrity, it can involve expensive specialists and cosmetic procedures. That's the contrast that makes her remarks potentially controversial, even if she never intended to offend anyone."
