A Georgia man who reported his 2-year-old boy was kidnapped was arrested for murder after the child's body was located in a garbage facility, RadarOnline.com has learned.

On Aug. 16, J’Asiah Mitchell was reported kidnapped by his father, 23-year-old Artavious North, as Front Page Detectives reported.

J'Asiah's father first told police his son was kidnapped during an armed robbery.

North claimed someone took the child during an armed robbery in front of an apartment complex in Panthersville, in DeKalb County, authorities said.

Multiple law enforcement agencies helped to find J'Asiah Mitchell.

Investigators, however, found no evidence to support North's claims there was a robbery or that North was in DeKalb County that night, officials said.

Police then arrested North and charged him with lying to police.

Six days after J'Asiah was reported missing, his body was found at a garbage facility.

On Aug. 22, a body was found at the East Point Transfer Station, according to authorities.

Nine days later, the Fulton County Medical Examiner confirmed the remains belonged to Mitchell, WAGA-TV reported.

It took authorities over a week to identify the body of J'Asiah Mitchell.

Officials said it took several days to identify the toddler since his body had been out in the elements for several days.

According to the East Point Police Department, in addition to the murder count, North also faces charges of concealing the death of another, and cruelty to children.
