A man in Detroit is accused of murder after a $4 purchase he tried to make at a gas station was declined, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Around 3 AM on May 6, Samuel Anthony McCray, 27, allegedly shot and killed Gregory Kelly, 37, and injured two other men, ages 27 and 60, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office said, as Front Page Detectives reported.

McCray faces multiple charges, including one count of first-degree murder, two counts of assault with intent to murder, and three counts each of felony firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.

According to prosecutors, the suspect unsuccessfully attempted to buy a few dollars worth of fuel at the station. When he tried to leave without paying, prosecutors said the store clerk locked the door so McCray couldn’t leave the station.

The clerk and McCray got into a dispute, and prosecutors said McCray pulled out a gun and shot Kelly dead, injuring the other two bystanders who were also locked inside.

After the deadly shooting, the clerk unlocked the door and McCray fled the scene, according to prosecutors. The two wounded men were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries.

Police took McCray into custody on May 7 and he was being held without bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
