Controversial Congressman Eric Swalwell Blew Through $20,000 In Democratic Campaign Funds At Ritz Carlton Hotel, Records Show
Someone might have some explaining to do after FEC filings suggest California's Democratic rep. Eric Swalwell is spending a boatload of campaign money at a fancy hotel.
The 40-year-old congressman allegedly dropped $20,000 at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay, California, raising eyebrows because his wife, Brittany, was the director of sales there between 2015 to 2019.
The filings -- obtained by Daily Mail -- show Swalwell also spent $7,000 on fancy meals at steakhouses all around Washington, D.C. during the second quarter of 2021.
He didn't just rack up huge bills at restaurants in D.C. The recently released records show Swalwell also dropped campaign money on dining establishments in New York City, including at STK Steakhouse.
Living the luxury life seems to be Swalwell's thing.
The records reveal the congressman spent $10,000 on 26 trips, with the money going towards limousines and luxury car services.
Swalwell also spent some serious dough on alcohol delivery services.
He dropped $566 on Drizly, labeling the purchase "food and beverage."
According to the documents, Swalwell also spent $1,151 at Capitol Hill Wine and Spirits in D.C.

Swalwell's questionable spending isn't the only reason why he's been in the spotlight lately.
A shirtless photo of the one-time presidential hopeful went viral after it was revealed he and his wife took a trip to Qatar paid for by the U.S.-Qatar Business Council.
Swalwell wasn't just shirtless.
He posed with his chest exposed while riding on the back of a camel in the blazing desert.
Swalwell and other members of congress faced backlash over the trip, with several American's pointing out the hypocrisy about traveling overseas during the pandemic.
It was claimed the "USQBC did not pay for any camel rides during the trip to Qatar," but they did not deny paying for Swalwell and others travel arrangements.
Swalwell has also caught heat for his relationship with a suspected Chinese spy named Fang Fang.
