Donald Trump heaped praise on his one-time rival Perry Johnson after he dropped out of the 2024 race — calling him a “brilliant businessman,” RadarOnline.com has learned.
On Monday, Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to speak about Johnson’s decision.
The ex-president told his followers, “Perry Johnson is a brilliant Businessman who has enjoyed great success. Above all, he loves our Country! After a valiant effort, he is now leaving the Race for President to do other things, which I have no doubt will be very successful.”
He added, “It is a great honor for me to have received his Full Endorsement. I will make Perry very proud of this decision, because we will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Trump’s remarks come days after Johnson announced he was dropping out of the race. Johnson never received any substantial support from voters and polled at less than 1%.
The businessman’s campaign spent heavily on an ad during the Super Bowl which targeted voters in Iowa — but his efforts were unsuccessful.
When he announced his decision, Johnson told his few followers that he would be endorsing Trump.
Earlier this month, he said, “With no opportunity to share my vision on the debate stage, I have decided at this time suspending my campaign is the right thing to do.”

He added, “Having suspended my campaign, I am officially endorsing @realDonaldTrump for President of the United States. We must beat @joebiden to save this country and Donald Trump is the only candidate who can do it.”
Johnson said he was 100% committed to helping Republicans “win across the country in 2024" and planned to be active in making sure they do. He did not issue an endorsement of any of his rivals.”
Johnson previously ran for office last year. He was a top GOP candidate for Michigan governor but was disqualified over invalid signatures.
