Chris Harrison recently stepped away from his hosting duties on ABC’s Bachelor in Paradise, but it appears his temporary move might now be permanent.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, in February, Harrison got swept up in a racism scandal when he defended former Bachelor contestant Rachael Kirkconnell after photos came to light of her attending a plantation-themed party in 2018.

Harrison blasted the “woke police” and insisted that “we all need to have a little grace, a little understanding, a little compassion.”

“It’s unbelievably alarming to watch this,” he told Extra at the time. “I haven’t heard Rachael speak on this yet. And until I actually hear this woman have a chance to speak, who am I to say any of this?”

Harrison, 49, later apologized for “wrongly speaking in a manner that perpetuates racism,” but the damage was done and he was booted from a season of the Bachelorette, which was hosted by two of the show’s former contestants, Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe.

And now Harrison’s loss as host of Bachelor in Paradise is another star’s gain: superfan David Spade. The news he would be a rotating guest host was confirmed on Wednesday.

An insider told Page Six the former Saturday Night Live funnyman will be perfect for the show since “the producers want to put some fun in the show” and “they think it’s become too serious.”

Spade, 56, has become famous for his commentary on the franchise. “I like it all,” he said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in March, explaining, “I just make fun of whatever's in front of me.”
