Anne Hathaway's Ex-Boyfriend Raffaello Follieri Claims Actress Ditched Him After He Was Arrested For Fraud In Order To Save Her Career
Anne Hathaway is not a ride or die. When she was faced with the decision between love and her career, she reportedly chose the latter.
According to her ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri, the actress ditched him as soon as he was arrested in 2008 and made the cold move of never talking to him again.
Hathaway's ex says he spoke to her hours before he was put into cuffs, only to never hear her voice again.
“That night Annie phoned me from Los Angeles where she was doing press,” he told Daily Mail in an interview.
“We were on the phone for 10 minutes talking about when she might come home," Follieri explained.
Revealing everything seemed normal between them, he said, “If I remember, Annie’s last words were ‘I love you forever’ and we ended the call. That was 2 AM on June 24, 2008."
Dropping the bomb, Follieri said hours later his entire life blew up.
“At 6 AM I was arrested. I never spoke to Annie again," he revealed.
The Devil Wears Prada actress and the Italian property developer dating for four years after meeting at a dinner party in 2004.

Follieri was arrested on fraud and money-laundering charges after being accused of conning $6 million from real estate investors while posing as a Vatican official.
Despite her ditching him as soon as s--- hit the fan, Follieri said there are no hard feelings.
“I think she made a business decision. She decided saving her career was most important," he stated. "I am not bitter. You can look in my eyes. I don’t have anger but I’ve been hurt."
Follieri spent five years behind bars after pleading guilty.
Hathaway might have made a good decision because he was later deported back to Italy and banned from entering the United States.
Months later, the Academy Award winner spoke about Follieri's arrest and their split, claiming “the rug … pulled out from under me all of a sudden.”
Of course, Hathaway went on and found love again.
She married Adam Shulman in 2012 and the couple has two kids together -- sons Jonathan, 5, and Jack, 1.
