YouTube star Etika’s cause of death has been revealed, two days after New York City police officers found his body floating on the East River.
In a statement to RadarOnline.com, the New York coroner determined the Internet star — whose real name was Desmond Amofah — died by drowning.
His death has been marked a suicide.
RadarOnline.com readers know Etika, 29, was last heard from on June 19, the same day he posted an emotional video saying he wanted to end his life.
“I wasn’t suicidal before, I really wasn’t, But one thing I didn’t realize was that the walls were closing around me so fast,” he said at the time. “I had no intention of killing myself, but I always push it too far.”
Police found his body near the South Street Seaport about half a mile from the Manhattan Bridge, where they discovered his personal belongings.
