Out-of-work anchor Megyn Kelly has been thrown a career lifeline by a major network — and now the sharp-tongued TV host is scheming for another payday, RadarOnline.com learned exclusively.
Though a CBS News rep said it was “absolutely not true," sources told RadarOnline.com the axed Today blabbermouth, 48, is a hot favorite to take a flagship position at CBS — and she's already putting together a dream team to join her.
"Megyn's had meetings with the network, and she's practically drooling over the opportunity!" said a TV insider.
There are whispers CBS This Morning is primed for a shake-up, with co-hosts Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell pondering moves to greener pastures — leaving the door open for Kelly's comeback!
"She thinks it's a perfect situation," the insider snitched.
But despite Kelly's excitement, backlash is brewing at CBS. "Megyn scorched the earth at Today,"said a newsroom snitch, who cited her "backroom rages and insane demands."
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, insiders claimed Kelly racked up $10 million in studio renovations at NBC, openly sniped at Olympic Games anchor Katie Couric, feuded with Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford and was accused by Today's chief writer of having him run off the show!
Sagging ratings soared 10 percent after NBC dumped Kelly and her $23 million contract in October for stating on-air she didn't see the problem with blackface!
"Megyn still thinks she's worth the money she got at NBC," another source spilled. "That's holding up the negotiations."
Although her reps deny a comeback, insiders said CBS is banking on the controversy surrounding Kelly to reel in viewers!
"They think she'll attract eyeballs like a car crash," an insider said.
